Frustration with photobucket
« on: January 04, 2013, 02:26:53 PM »
Has anyone else been having trouble with photobucket lately or is it just me? I know many new members express their frustrations with posting pics. I know I had my my difficulties with photobucket early on, but then it became quite user-friendly to me and I was able to post many pics, as you know, possibly too many (but no one ever complained). But, lately photobucket seems to lock up, not transfer, transfer the wrong photo, etc. It recently dropped, for some unknown reason, several of the pictures I had saved in one of my files. Because of that, some of the pics in my recent posts on the 3A page have been deleted.

I would stop using photobucket if there are other sites out there like photobucket that will work to get pics to the 3A site? I do like to post pics, not just links, because I'm lazy and like to see the photos when I open a post without having to link to another location. Photobucket also allows us to explain each photo as we go along.

Any help would be appreciated.

Calvin,
I use photbucket for all my pics and cant say I have any problems.  I just posted some pics on there 2 days agao just fine and have over 1300 pics.  I did have an issue a few months back when they revamped their interface but I found that you could revert back to their classic view or original style page.

I haven't seen you on here for a while, hope you and the family had a good holiday.

Calvin, I'm right there with you my friend. It absolutely taxes my computer system. Bogs down, locks up, loses entire batches of downloaded photos. It's infuriating.

I have a new and powerful computer and an old one. Photobucket makes both systems react the same way, so it ain't me or my stuff.

Tried complaining. That was a real joke.

They switched to a Beta format or something. You can switch back to the old style. This at least stopped me from sticking a spike through my skull >:(

Ya mean it isn't just me? I have had to drop the quality level on my pics, and the size. They download pretty fast now. I will have to find out how to switch to classic view.

Our internet has been slowing down steadily while all the neighborhood kids are home from school.. Today was a snow day so the internet is slow. I was blaming that for my Photobucket troubles.

Ya you all need to get back to classic view. That may be the cause of your problem. I was having a hard time with the new because it would have to load all the pics on the album instead of having pages as the classic page has.

I almost gave up trying to post pictures a few times recently. I now use my smart phone to take pictures and use the Photobucket app to upload them. I set the app to upload to a file location that works with the #3A site. My big break was using the little gear shaped icon to get the pictures link. I also had a very hard time logging in with my user name. It works best for me using my email.

WOW, I haven't had any problems with Photobucket at all. Could it possibly be an issue with your internet service? Perhaps their upload speed is not fast enough to upload a full size photo. I used to resize my photo's and upload them to Photobucket before they started resizing them for us. I'm not fond of or used to the new format on Photobucket but decided to work with it for a while to see if it works for me. So far, so good.

Thanks guys, for helping this ol' Jeeper attempt to stay in the cyber world. I'd rather troubleshoot a Jeep problem. I wondered about going back to classic, but then was afraid it might make things worse.  Now I'll do it.

Those of you who have had no problem are just enjoying the best of both worlds: the cyber world and the old hands-on Jeep-fixin' world.

As Calvin knows, I'm computer dumb.  I've never posted a picture on the site, because I could not get it through Photobucket.  Probably me, not them. Jim

jamesr,
ï¿½Well, Jim, I'd rather be a good Jeep mechanic than a computer geek. I did go back to original photobucket. It's a lot friendlier to me. I do struggle with computer technology immensely.

ï¿½It's good to see your posts here again, anyway. We've got to cross the barriers and get together again.

Lets wait untill it warms up down here.  It is 11 degrees in Sunny SE Arizona right now.  And this is NOT why I moved here from Oregon 12 years ago!

jamesr, your just going to have to adjust to Global Warming and live with it. The Global Warming followers are praying for high temps World wide but they seem to be having difficulty with a contact link to the manager of the Earths weather control manager.  ;D
