Sunday evening country ride
« on: October 31, 2010, 08:45:56 PM »
I talked the wife into going on a country ride with me but I didn't tell her I was going to ford a creek. I had been to this crossing before when the water was up and to deep to cross. I have been checking some maps and finally figured out where I was, at least I thought I had it figured out. It turned out I did have it right it was on a road with two names but according to the map the ford went between Little Mount Church rd and * Mill rd. Anyway, it's a wide shallow crossing there, at least it only got up to the bottom half of the brake drums and you know what that causes. There was a stone home on Little Mount Church rd that I wanted to show Betty so we went on up the road to it and took photos. It turns out it was built around 1780 +/-.

Anyway, we drove back to the ford as she was saying she still didn't like crossing the creek, heh, heh, she knew I was going to cross it anyway. We got to the crossing as someone was coming across from the other side so I watched where he went and how deep it was. Ok, it's a piece of cake. I flagged him down and we talked a while. Then we crossed.

Here is where we started across.

This is a shot from the middle of the creek looking at Betty and the Jeep as she clings to the seat in fear. I am standing on the edge of an island on the rocks. Seat belts, who needs seat belts when you have guns and bullets. Geez Betty the water is only 6" to 8" deep, you won't drown.

This is a shot of where we will exit the water and go on * Mill rd.

This is a shot of Betty thanking God that we made it across and didn't drown or get washed down the creek.

Thanks for the great pics.  Looks like some pretty fun places to exercise your Jeep.  The last photo reveals a nice smile on your wife's face, too.  That's a sign of success!
