3A in Southwest Missouri
« on: January 10, 2016, 07:18:23 PM »
As soon as I knew I was going to buy my 3A, I found you folks.  I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the posts in this forum. At first my plan was to get the girl up and running and worry about the body later.  But after doing a little reading and looked on this site, I may have to accelerate the project.

I plan on keeping it as stock as possible, so I am going to document my progress here.  Here are some pics of the Jeep after I got it home.

It looks like the original color under the data plate was Potomac Grey.

The first project is going to be replacing the fuel tank.  It has a sizable hole on one of the seams.

Greg,

Can you post a photo of the drivers side of the metal ring that retains the transmission shifter boot?

Thanks!!!

The only I lack before I can drive my Jeep down the road is the carburetor.  I sent if off to be rebuilt 3 weeks ago and I still hadn't heard anything as of today.  I made a call, and apparently, no one knows where it is!    >:(

That's a bummer. Where did you send it to?

The carb has been found!  I should have it back by early next week.  Proof of life will be posted soon! :)

After I got my carb back and installed, I found that the Go-Devil had no compression. I had it rebuilt and finally got it reinstalled last week. A little more brake work yesterday and I went for my first drive today! I couldn't be happier. It drives great and the motor purrs! Here are some before and after pictures of the engine compartment.[reason]picture edit[/reason]

My clutch went out, so I decided to go ahead and begin the rebuild.  Everything is disassembled.
