Set the tub tonight. Good view of the color contrast between the tub and wheels. My wife gave it a "thumbs up". And that's all that really matters. I really like the way the satin clear coat knocked down the shine.

WOW, I really like the tub color and wheel contrast. That color really looks close to mine maybe a little lighter. Really nice job.

Thanks for the "Thumbs Up" Muley.
BirdDog, I think we would have to put them side by side to see the difference. Maybe that could happen at some point!? ;)

Been moving forward with some minor stuff. Hood blocks are made. I had a couple chunks of Mahogany laying around. Hood drilled...

Lots of little parts have been primed and painted satin black...

If all goes well, I'm hoping to have more of the sheet metal painted over the long Independence Day weekend.

Oh... I discovered BoltDepot.com. Good prices on bulk nuts, bolts and screws. I've started having issues finding slotted standard screws used on our Willys Jeeps...verses the Philips head stuff. Check them out if you're interested in original style screws.

I want to see the gas can carrier all clean and mounted. On the tailgate, they used 4 one inch thick spacers. The military vendors all have them. Oilly

Leaker,
I did get the holder blasted and painted this weekend. I looked for a set of the spacers. I only found them on one site. $32.00 for 4 chunks of metal. >:( Hell No! I will use over-sized nuts for spacers. Go ahead...call me Bubba!

My plan did come together.

I was able to paint the rest of the sheet metal and accompanying parts. Only one clear coat run that I cant live with. (Top of the fender.) Ill fix it sometime this week.

Ive started to assemble some stuff

This weekend was fairly productive. Not pictured I fixed the bad clear coat run on the top of the driver side fender, and painted the seat frames and pans.

Got the tailgate set, along with the gas can holder and spare tire mount

Shot of the internal tailgate reinforcement

The grill needs the bezels (on order from Walcks), but everything else is installed.

Fenders are on and the wire harness is in place and partially connected. I need a couple gauges ( on order from Walcks).

The final major sub-assembly will be the windshield. The glass is being cut at a local shop.

Stellar job, Tim!  The paint...is it a flat sheen with a satin clear coat?  I'd say it is as close to perfect as you could ever get.

Thanks all!!  Many of you have been at this very exiting stage.  Everything is painted.  (Almost everything.)  All the pieces are in hand. (Well, most of them anyway.) It's all down to assembly.  I get so wound up, I don't want to leave the garage.

Tumbleweed, that is my goal.  At this stage, I see no reason why I wouldn't get it done.

The last big challenge will be getting it titled.  The rest of the story...

Bought it from a guy(who never transferred the title)...who bought it from a girl...who's father owned it, but he died.  I have a title with his name...and an official document that gave the daughter "Power of Attorney"...and a bill of sale with her signature... Signed over to me by the guy I bought it from.  Still with me?

Hopefully titling it will be easier than the sequence I just laid out. :-?

Fantastic!

That story could be the start of a good country song!

Keep us posted on the finishing touches and of course the maiden voyage video!
