New Seats
« on: October 22, 2012, 08:39:35 PM »
New Slate Gray seat covers and foam pads arrived today from Beachwood Canvas. I went with the thinner 2A style seat foam to hopefully buy a couple extra inches of leg room. Installation was pretty straightforward and it took less than a couple hours to do everything. I thought they came out pretty good for yet another project by an idiot with a tool box.

Nice work Ryan, what is your color choice for the tub?

Oh Ya. Been there.

Are you doing the repairs? These things really do have common rust and fail points. The sheet metal patches look pretty much the same as mine did.

The body work and paint are the only things I have hired out, and of course, the only things dreadfully behind schedule. Go figure.

Finally picked up my finished tub from the body guy tonight. I took this tub in over a year ago for what was supposed to be a 6 week project. Too late to actually line it up properly and bolt it down but here's what it looks like just sitting in place. Still a long ways to go with the project but this is a major milestone.

Wow!!  Even though you had a long wait, it looks like it turned out terrific.  By now you've probably lined it up and bolted her down.

Everything can really come together now.  When I was at your current stage, I was in the garage from dawn till dusk.  Every little thing you do is exciting.  I justed couldn't stop.  I imagine you feel the same.  Can't wait to see those seats mounted in the tub.

Congrats.

Right you are, Tim. I've been like a crack addict in the garage the past few days. So much so, that I have it back together and took the inaugural test drive tonight at 11:15pm (no way I could wait until morning...) . So far so good. I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow.

Still waiting on the hood but the rest of it is together enough to run and drive. I have some detail stuff to finish up but I think it looks pretty good.

Oh Yah! There it is!! :o :o 8-) That is stunning.

You have got to be thrilled with the way it's turned out. I have a fondness for Olive drab Jeeps. I also have a fondness for bright yellow Jeeps...see CalvinHunt.

Now I have a new color added to my bucket list...Patomac Grey. I've talked my wife into a second Willys. She wants yellow. I wonder if she'll go for a third?

It really looks great. I'm so happy for you. Let the fun begin!! :)

When you said last week that you had the long weekend planned I thought you was at least going to break for turkey! That is an amazing bit of work. I'm with Tim, that Pontomac Gray really pop's the black hardware and the seat covers go well. That tub sure looks different from the one you took back from body man #1. Although not complete you will soon cross the finish line in style.....
