J-T'S CJ-3A Project
« on: April 22, 2015, 04:32:09 PM »
Hello everyone. I recently bought a 1949 CJ-3A and 1942 MB from a gentlemen 4 hours away. Now that the snow finally mostly gone, I have brought my first project home. She's missing quiet a bit of parts, but I do believe with a little hard work and some help from you guys I can get her fixed. As you can see a lot of her tub has been replaced, and she has been at least 3 colours over the years.[reason]Trying to change the subject as asked[/reason]

Thx everyone so far for the welcoming. Yes that is a pulley on the tail gate. They cut the hole for it and put a peice of round stock in the tailgate lip, luckily it's not welded in.

Hello again everyone got my tub off this week. Finally got to do a proper frame inspection. Found one bad spot on the driver side rear horn. Found a newer master brake cylinder and that I have a 12 V generator made in Quebec Canada. Luck was on my side and found my starter nut I had lost in Feb just siting on the frame, even after moving it on a trailer and about 30 km's.

Looks like the draw bar or rear bumper aren't very salvageable. Plus I think I need new shocks lol.

Question is there suppose to be the two holes in the V-member and the last support cross member?

Hello again guy/gals. Just doing a bit of updating. Since my last post I have removed the engine, almost accidentally recycled my original aluminium master cylinder.I pooped open my T-90 transmission to find of my low/reverse gear has been worn away.Found out that I have a 12V I.C.M. CO Generator build in Montreal Canada. And I think that the king pin stud nuts have actually rusted away to nothing.

J-T,
Good to see you're still pounding away at it.  Man...someone was really cruel to that low/reverse.

I missed this build until now.  The frame looks a lot better than the tub.  :)    That tub reminds me of some work my father did to a beat up '2A,   skinned the sides and square corners in the back.

I had to wait until I got to work to check out the photos,   they are too large for my limited Internet data plan.   I am surprised we can upload them that big.   :o

Keep up the good work.    It is fun to watch these builds.

Hey guy/gals, It's been awhile so I decided to post my progress so far. I have the drive train off the chassis and I have started to remove a lot of the po;s snow plow reinforcement add on's. 4 cutoff disc's later I got this. Only thing to survive was the L beam that the po has welded inside the frame, that i can't get to with the grinder. Two options are get a die grinder/air chisel in there or cut it flush with the frame and leave it.
