Feedback on plastic fuel tanks?
« on: May 11, 2013, 11:23:13 PM »
Anyone using one? Pulled my tank and thinking about going with plastic. I plan to use my willys in the summer, 3 months. So it will spend a lot of time sitting....
Also it's not a stock jeep. Half 3a, half m38

I have heard second hand that the fill caps have a poor record of not sealing well. Fit can be off too. BUT....you won't have to worry about rust and rot with a poly tank. I had an OEM plastic tank in my 78 Dodge, and you could see thru most of the body and it never had fuel issues due to tank rust.

There have been generally positive reports on the 3B forum on the plactic tank issue.
A couple of small problems but most guys have been happy with them.

I ordered a plastic tank from the MTS company, along with one of their caps. Hope it fits and seals well.
