Carb Issues
« on: April 30, 2014, 01:33:58 AM »
Got the jeep running with rebuilt WO carb. Engine runs beautifully at idle. When I hit the gas pedal the engine chugs and usually stalls. If I run with partial choke 1/4 out engine does much better. Fuel pump is new as are filters. I am stumped about what I should do and check to resolve the problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have not messed with the points, could they be causing this sort of issue?

Need more info. What is your idle RPM? Does it idle without any choke? What is the condition of your distributor?
Old fashioned service never goes out of style.

You may not have the metering rod set right or the idle to run transfer ports may be clogged.

Thanks guys. I put new points in tonight and things are much better. Also adjusted the carb (still need to mess some more) and things improved still more. I will let you know how it goes when I set the timing and get the carb dialed in.
