Gears too worn or replace?

So I committed the cardinal sin while taking out the transmission by not wiring the main shaft. Yep - clink, clink and all the needle bearings fell out. I’ve always wanted to rebuild a T-90 so here we go. I have everything apart and the counter shaft and low/reverse gears look pretty worn out. Should I replace?  FWIW before I took it out the transmission worked great. The only reason I was taking it out was to get at the clutch/flywheel.

I would...

...replace 1st/reverse and clean up and smooth the teeth on the cluster gear.

For me, 1st/reverse is just too used up for my liking.

Thanks. I was prepared to replace both but you may have just saved me about $175.

you have the opportunity to upgrade to a T-90C trans gear set up which will give you a lower first and second gear.  you simply need to replace the input gear and cluster gear. Novak has a kit for it.

Great info; I read up on this after reading your post and it sounds like combined with an OD the gear splits work out nicely.  I have not cracked my T90A open yet but now it sounds like I have a reason to!  Of course that will mean getting an entire rebuild kit for it...

Certainly sounds like a great option. Unfortunately it’s a bit cost prohibitive at this point. I ordered a new 1st gear and small parts kit from Novak. Maybe I’ll do that conversion in the next rebuild!
