Ring gear teeth

From what I�ve found out, the ring gear on my 1953 CJ3A should have 124 teeth. The one I just removed from the flywheel has 129 teeth. It had sat in a field for 20 years before I got it and it looked like someone had changed it to 12 volts. Would that require a different starter, and also replacing the ring gear? I want to restore to original 6 volt. So do I now get a 124 tooth ring gear and the appropriate starter, or am I wrong and this could be the original ring gear with 129 teeth?

What is the serial number of your CJ-3A. Some of them had 129 tooth ring gears with the appropriate starter at 6 volts.

#12268. It also has a key ignition. The tech page explains it all. 129 teeth ring gear and a different starter. Thanks.
