Well... it seems I may have a little too much time for my hobby! Lately!

Over the past few days I've been fixing things that, in some cases, have been waiting for years. Broken links, old forum features, archived content, upgrades, and a long list of little odds and ends have finally started getting some attention.

The funny part is that I still have a full-time job... so most of this happens during evenings and weekends. 😄

It's actually been a lot of fun digging through the history of CJ3APage and bringing a few forgotten things back to life. Every time I fix one thing, I seem to discover two more that need attention!

If you notice something that doesn't work quite right or have ideas for improving the site, please let me know. I can't promise I'll fix everything overnight, but little by little we're catching up on years of backlog.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and for continuing to make CJ3APage such a great community.

About the "Applaud" and "Smite" Buttons

Several members have asked about the Applaud and Smite buttons that now appear under each member's profile information.

These are not replacements for the old Like button. They are part of SMF's built-in Karma system.

Applaud increases a member's Karma by +1.
Smite decreases a member's Karma by -1.

Unlike the previous Like feature, these buttons affect a member's overall Karma rather than a specific post.

The previous Like/Dislike modification had to be removed during the forum upgrades because it was causing compatibility issues. Since the built-in Karma system remained active, the Applaud and Smite buttons became visible.

I'm currently reviewing whether the Karma system is something the community finds useful, or whether it would be better to disable it and eventually replace it with a more modern "Like" system in the future.

If there isn't much feedback or interest in keeping the Karma system, I'll probably go ahead and remove it. If you have a preference one way or the other, please let me know!

Thanks for your feedback and for helping shape the future of CJ3APage.

Website Feedback / Re: Post Count Not Working
« Last post by Forum Master on June 30, 2026, 08:02:43 PM »
I just did a quick test by posting a new message, and the total post count increased from 40,016 to 40,017, so it appears the counter is working correctly now. It may have been an issue at the time this was originally reported, but it doesn't seem to be occurring anymore. Thanks for bringing it up!

Thanks for reporting this.

I believe you're right. The forum currently shows 40,016 posts, 5,109 topics, and 1,299 members, so it does look like the post count may not be updating correctly.

I'll add this to my to-do list and investigate what's causing it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Thanks for pointing that out, Bruce.

You're absolutely right. That link still points to the old YaBB forum and should now be updated to point to the current SMF forum instead.

Better late than never! 😄 I'll take care of it and add it to my to-do list so it doesn't get overlooked.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Announcements / Old YaBB Forum Restored as a Read-Only Archive
« Last post by Forum Master on June 30, 2026, 07:47:21 PM »
Hello everyone,

We wanted to let you know that the link to the original CJ3APage YaBB forum has now been restored.
https://cj3apage.com/cgi-bin/3Ayabb26/YaBB.pl

The old forum has been placed in read-only mode and will remain available as an archive. No new posts or registrations can be made there, but all of the valuable discussions, technical information, and historical content remain accessible for reference.

Our goal is to preserve the many years of knowledge contributed by the community while continuing discussions on the current forum.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make CJ3APage such a valuable resource over the years. We hope this archive will continue to serve Willys enthusiasts for many years to come.

For those who may be wondering, all topics, posts, and member accounts from the old YaBB forum were already imported into the current SMF forum several years ago during the integration of the CJ3B community. Nothing has been lost. The restored YaBB forum is provided solely as a historical archive, preserving the original look and structure of the community as it existed at that time.

Enjoy exploring the history!
