EVERYTHING ELSE, General tips / Speedo reads at 1/2 speed
« on: May 08, 2024, 09:09:13 PM »
Any feed back on this speedo on a CJ3a.    Purchased with a complete gage set but reads at 1/2 speed against my GPS.  0-60 with MS 39021-2 label.   Am running 16" NDT's    Not sure if the Dana 44 is a 4.27 or 5.38 but still would not make that big a difference.   Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks for the info... this is enough to go on.

Still looking for the info.  We have fab capability so hard to spend the $$ for something from off shore.

Bob -

Thanks... ended up purchasing a new set, and comparing to the existing... Old ones were with in 0.010" so let them be.

Looking for dimensions to fab a new 3A front bumper.. my old one was a C-Channel with snow plow mounts.  Specifically hole locations and diameters and over all dimensions.   Am down to the short rows on re-build.  A quick hand sketch would be great.

Am rebuilding the front axle on my -3A.  What should the clearance be between the flange bushing in the spindle and the axle, I am not finding it in the rebuild manual or on this forum?  Am trying to determine if mine need replacing.

Craig asked about the tire.  It is an old Goodyear  "SureTrac"  6:00x16.  directional.  I love the tread, but unfortunately they are not made anymore.

Here is where we are today.. rebuilt engine, transmission, rear axle, new bearings and seals in front axle and transfer case.
Frame cleaned and painted with POR 15.  Drive lines rebuilt and installed.  Working to finish front steering.

Here is what we started with... the tub is a "bubba" fab from the firewall back.  This was all stripped off and dissembled down to the frame.

Starting a  50' Cj3A restore. Engine is done. All torn down  to the frame finally. Hopefully by spring we will have a completed project.
