Thanks, Pascal.  As far as I can see, all posts are now visible to me also.  That's a big problem solved by the move to the new host.

That's excellent news!

It looks like the change fixed the issue for your account. Since this problem has only affected a small number of members over the years, I'm not ready to declare victory just yet, but this is a very encouraging result.

The next step is to see if the same fix works for the other members who have reported the problem in the past. If it does, we may have finally tracked down a bug that's been around for years.

Thank you very much for taking the time to test not only the thread I mentioned, but also all the older posts where you previously had to use the copy/paste workaround. That was extremely helpful.

Pascal,
I went a step further.  Not only did I check for your request, but I went back and searched for my posts where I wrote, "Copy/paste so I can read" on all the posts where it was invisible to me to check those also.

The post you asked about mstoke's posts - all are visible.

All the other posts where they didn't show and I had to log out, copy, log back in, quote the author, paste just to read - all visible now.

This is really, really great!!

Hi Rus,

I'm investigating the long-standing issue where some members occasionally see blank posts while logged in.

I've made a small change on my end that may or may not be related. Could you please do the following when you have a chance?

Log completely out of the forum.
Close your browser tab (or browser if possible).
Open the forum again and log back in.
Go back to this topic:
https://cj3apage.com/Forum/index.php?topic=4626.0
Let me know if you can now see all of mstokes' posts, or if any of them are still blank.

If the issue is still present, could you also tell me:

Which browser you're using (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
Whether you're on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android, etc.
If possible, take a screenshot of one of the blank posts.

Thanks for helping track this down. It's been a tricky issue because only a few members seem to experience it.

Hi Pascal!  No, the problem will happen with a member who has a good avatar.  Example:

Ok, SMF support said that it might be a MOD that can cause this so I will remove the MOD for the Like red button (the last one installed) and some others MOD that affect post.

Is it just from posts where the member doesn't have avatar? Or a broken one?

Ok I'm looking at this again.

I checked the members permissions and it seem to be the same for all users.

I know that we are running SMF forum version 2.0.17 and there is 2 new versions for it: 2.0.18 or the new release 2.1.3.

I will consider to upgrade the forum to 2.1.3 and see if it make any changes or improve.

I'm also looking for help with smf support.

I'll let you know.

There is a new guest post awaiting approval, at https://cj3apage.com/Forum/index.php?topic=4802.msg37913#msg37913

To me it is blank, so I hesitate to approve it.  But If I log out I won't be able to see the post at all because it hasn't been approved.

Maybe another moderator can try.

Hey Pascal, we know your busy!  We're just batting around ideas in hopes that it might be useful when the time comes!

For me, at least there's a way to see the posts until then!

Sorry for the delay.

Additionally, I just posted as "guest" to see what that looks like.  May take a while to see it - requires approval.

.....as Guest and they are all the same session, just different screens. When you log-in in one tab, a new session is open in that screen. All open tabs are like a picture of that you last did in that tab and will keep unchanged. If you refresh a given tab, the browser will notice there is one new session that you recently opened in one of the tabs. Hence all tabs will show the "new picture" under this username session......
Cheers!
Chris

Yes, I follow all that.  That's exactly why I refreshed to see if the old "picture" would remain or update - recognizing I'm "logged in"  - and it did, making those newly visible posts disappear again.  I provided that detail in hopes smarter people than me can go in and see what may be causing the missing posts to only appear when logged out vs. registered members.

When viewing in the "guest mode", have you tried to post comments?  I wouldn't think you would be able to without logging in as a "member", also to show your "signature" as it does on other topics.  FYI, I've designated as "always logged in on my profile, so there is no logged out status removal possibly.  When you log out of "guest", you go back to beginning "status' possibly.  Just thinking out loud some.  I'm not computer savvy by any stretch of the imagination.  I really appreciate all the time administrators have to put in to maintain this site.  Thanks!
