maybe you could get a tj rear dana 44 and cut it down so that it is off set vs centered that way it came ?. then just get one custom shaft for the short side, and remove the coil brackets. i've been looking for a off set 78 quadra trac rear. i saw one, it was over 1000$. you could do a full float kit, i believe that was mentioned already. i care to agree with the above that there could be more issues then the locker

Aside from the comments that actually have nothing to do with your problem. I think what is being said is your rear end is set up wrong. If a tire/wheel can be seen moving in and out as you turn then you have serious backlash problems somewhere. As to having some sort of custom axle shaft made to work between a D-41 and some sort of Power loc track Loc selectable locker or what ever. I would assume with enough money you can get almost anything made. But why. For much less money you can either get your D-41 and the Power-Loc you have installed set up correctly or change out the rear end to a Pass side drop D-44 either tapered or a 30 spline flanged and get a different locker setup.

As I see this it has absolutely nothing to do with your transfercase.

R u guys saying that no one can custom build a rear shaft that would work with my transfer case, a 10 spline shaft, and a Dana 41? Do I need to re-shoot a video from inside the cab? This isn't a click click rachet thing, this is very loud ca-lunk ca-lunk even when backing up in a straight line. And is easily felt from within the cab. U can physically see the tire move laterally...more noticeable in a left turn. Not nearly as bad when turning right. I understand the locking/unlocking dynamic and foot off the gas in a turn. Even in a 44 (when engaged), it'll still do this? Just trying to get some clarity here.

Sounds like it is "slipping" due to excessive clearance. Did you properly measure the clearance and shim the couplers? These old axles often require that additional shims be installed.

The exact reason I built a 1971 D-44 30 spline for my 2A powered by a warmed up 134L (making 140cuin etc.) I wanted to never worry about the rear axle again no matter what I did.

Only a very few of the Jeep narrow track D44’s had the centered carriers from 1972-1975.
Yes the centered carrier axles require using a D20 in your CJ.

You can install a very common 19 spline D44 from any 1957-1970 CJ.
If you want a factory 30 spline offset carrier it must be from a 1970-1971 cj.
Those are rare rather expensive and very desirable.
That said installing the factory 30 spline is most likely over kill for most every L134 Jeep.

Was told the 41 has an offset mounting point for the transfer case, whereas the 44 is in the center.

Why would a change in your rear axle have anything to do with the transfercase? I have an Eaton E Locker in my my Dana 44 30 spline flanged rear axle with the same everything as the D-41 used,

Are all flat fender owners using a lock right in a Dana 41 having to deal with this clunking?  Why can't I have a custom built shaft with a 30 spline that would work in a Dana 41? Why do I have to switch to a Dana 44, get another transfer case, have the 44 customized and rebuilt? That switch would run in the thousands of dollars, right? I've seen machinist build custom work for all kinds of applications. Why not this one? I'm not seeing or hearing this kind of noise/movement in other flat fenders that have lockers??
