I agree. Unless it's a daily driver and I suspect few are if any they will run for years without much maintenance. Perhaps they do run smoother going electronic though.

The first Omix electronic distributor I got was deflective and it didn't work. It was quickly exchanged and the second one has been working great for a few years now.

Tom, can you give us a link to the replacement ignition module you used, it's good to know where to get replacement parts.

I put one in a 46 cj2 probably 4 years ago, still going fine.  I have a new one ready to put in my m38 when I get to it, real easy, just make sure you have the right kind of coil.

I have an electronic dist. in my 53 wagon with F 134. No problems with the conversion and has been running great now for 3 years. I had the same issue as Tom indicated above, I had to flip the mounting ring to get the proper timing.

 Looks exactly like the original with the oil cap on the side - that is just for looks though.

I've been using one for about 6 years and have had no problems at all.  The Omix comes with a 5 year warranty and they seem to be very good about honoring their warranty if needed.  As I recall, there was some minor issue with install where I had to flip the mounting ring around (can't really remember) but it went in fine and has been trouble free.  I did have to replace the ignition module now that I think of it, but burning that up was totally my fault as I had a faulty generator that baked my coil and the Ign. module.  The part is easily available ($59 on Amazon) and an easy install.

Some have also had luck with the Pertronix ignition which you install in place of your points and condenser.  But if your distributor shaft is wearing out, that might not be your preferred route.

Hello, I am thinking about upgrading to a electronic distributor. My current distributor seems to have some free play in the shaft that I can't seem to figure out where it is coming from which is really no big deal it just seems like it sputters a little bit even though it is in time.   My 3a has a 12 volt system. Not to mention having to replace and set points gets old after while. I found one on Kaiser Willy's for $135. Anyone have any expery with this distributor?
