 I have figured out why I had to drop the front of my windshield in order to end up with the proper 66.5� that Bob W pointed out.  My windshield is in fact bent at the wrong angle. Hey it least it�s not the repo body for once! I found the original windshield frame I cut apart to rob some details.  I then clamped a section next to the windshield on my jeep and it confirmed that the windshield is bent.( see picture below)  Now I need to figure out how to straighten it out.

16 Degrees.  I'll check my windshield out.  I think it might be bent back and that's causing the problem. 

SteveW when you say "the vertical rod with the hinge pins" are you referring to the door?

There was a topic on the degree of windshield a while back and I believe 16 degree was the angle. Is that what you are wanting to know? One other thing that may help is the angle of the vertical rod that the hinge pins are welded to is 5 degrees with bottom towards the front of jeep. I am fitting my frame and bow set so this may be helpful to me also.

[size=12]Re measured and ended up with 66 5/8".  This was done with the front windshield pivot mounts located an inch below their original location and the top frame rods in place.




This next picture shows the driver side door closing rod(green) to the door(black).  Does this look correct ?
If this is indeed correct, is there any problem leaving the windshield pivot brackets were they are ? 

Anybody know what the proper angle between the windshield and the cowl is?

Bob, I'll post a picture tomorrow.  I did a quick measurement and came up with 66 1/2" inside to inside.

I must be getting old.  I think the door frames came from Walcks, but I'll have to check on that.

I have a frame from Walck's and it fit surprisingly well....


Where did you get your door frames?

It just seems to me that since the rods that the doors close against bolted in and are vertical, that maybe the door frame is at fault...

[size=12]I talked to Walcks yesterday and was told the Top Frame was reverse engineered from a know source and he has not received any negative feedback.  He is still selling from the first batch so we are guessing it has something to do with my repo tub. What a shock!!!

3 different rods set up the location the top of the windshield must be relative to the back of the tub. 


Here are pictures of my measurements for the rods that set up the location of the top of the windshield relative to the soft top frame. I have the tape measure starting where I had adjusted the locking nuts to.[/size]

Does this top frame look like it's in the correct location?  The door rod does not line up with the bracket at the cross rod and I had to drop the windshield frame about an inch in order to get the center rod to fit.
