Working the rear end of the jeep. Did the brakes including a new outer axle seals. I opened the differential to inspect/clean/change fluid. All the gears looked pretty good so I drained the old fluid, cleaned it out and replaced the fluid.
Decided on new leaf springs so I supported the axle while I dealt with new springs. I didn't have the axle supported exactly horizontally - one side a little higher that the other. At some point - couple days maybe?? - I noticed that there is some fluid from the differential that leaked out of the lower side of the axle. It took me a while to spot it as I covered the previous brake work I had done with plastic bags to protect it from dust from some grinding I was also doing. The fluid had collected in the bag.
How big a problem is this?
