Hi from Belgium
« on: February 16, 2017, 02:24:53 PM »
My real name is Guy, and I live and work in Antwerpen, Belgium. I have a CJ3A. It is a former Belgian army that I bought 3 years ago. The previous owner gave it an MB look but I'm in the process of getting it back to its CJ3A appearance. So far most of the body parts have been acquired, and ready to be installed.
Once I get settled here, I'll post some pictures.

Welcome, Guy.  There is a member here that goes by "Dutch_Jeeper" and he is in Tilburg.  He is an excellent mechanic and knows a lot about these old Willys.  If you're lucky, maybe your paths will cross some day.

Thanks for the welcome.
Tilburg is indeed just over the border, not far.

I'm paging through all these excellent topics.
Here's a picture of the jeep when I got it:

A lot had been altered by the previous owner to give that MB look. At the moment most of these features are gone.

This is how she looks at the moment:

I was able to swop most parts for these CJ3a / M38 parts.
Still a lot of work needs to be done.

Just a quick note that since my last post, my JC3 looks like this at the moment:

While going over the details to install a rebuild engine in it, and remove the diesel engine, some odd problems were found.
One was that the gearbox had been moved forward an inch or so, revealing clutch and brake pedal adaptions that were not sound at all.
So I decided to start with a major restoration after all, something I didn't want to do for at least another year or two.
While removing the body it looked worse than I thought,  I'm happy I do start now, considering the state of the frame and body bottom.
I'm afraid I wont be driving with it much this summer.
