Most of my Harleys are old and they are simple tractors, just like these Willys. No I've never ridden in the sidecar, my seat is the drivers! I had a Ural sidecar rig a few years ago, It was my off road bike. She'd go anywhere a four wheeler would go just a little slower. That bike was Russian and REALLY simple. My wife loves her sidecar, carries all kind of junk in it's trunk and I think she naps when we ride, but she denies it.
I believe "lost interest" is what happened. I think the rear end overhaul got the better of him. It looks daunting but really it's not hard, just a little tedious. But to read the internet gurus talk, rebuilding one is something magical. Nope, no Jap engine in this girl, I'm rebuilding the little four banger, it's plenty for that Willys, but I am putting 11" brakes all around and a dual master for better stopping.
Skis on a sidecar bobsled. That requires snow and I don't do snow, southern boy here! If there's white stuff on the ground, you don't go outside.
