Hey guys.  Sorry I haven't done this yet.  I've been busy working on my rearend  (pic posted below, hope it isn't too big).

My name is Joe.  I'm from Bartlesville, OK.  Home of Phillips 66 petroleum company. 

I'll be getting my jeep tomorrow evening after I get off work.  I believe it is a 1951 Willys.  My grandpa had it and we would drive it around a pasture behind his house when we were kids.  My uncle got it when my grandpa died and he decided he isn't going to do anything with it and wanted to get rid of it.  I haven't seen it in probably 20 years so I don't know what kind of shape it's in now, but it would run and drive back then.  My dad believes it needs brake work and something is wrong with the radiator.  I can't wait to get it and get an assessment.

I like hunting and fishing, drinking beer, spending time with my family, working on things (I'm currently working on a 1957 Lonestar aluminum V hull I got from my wifes grandpa), computers / gaming.

P.S.  That is not my jeep.  I took a pic of a video from YouTube of a guy welding his posi trac together on a 46 CJ2A to make it a solid axle.  At least that is what he thought he was doing.   :-/

Hey Joe;
That is a remarkable similar story to mine.  My grandpa purchased the farm jeep that I now have, it then went to my uncle who ran the farm after he passed.  We drove this jeep around the corn fields- the whole family has fond memories of it.  Its now mine and will be my sons one day making it a one family jeep.  Glad to find other 3A owners in my area! ;D

Its great to be the keeper of part of family history.  You gona keep it stock?

I do plan to keep it stock for now.  My ultimate goal as most are starting out is to get it running and stopping.  I definitely don't want to see it abused like the pic above but I also don't plan to make a showroom piece that I'm scared to drive or get a scratch on.  My grandpa was a self employed oil business owner.  Never had a lot of money.  He missed out on the $100 / barrel days!  He fixed anything the redneck, dare I say bubba way, but it worked and that's just how he was raised.  I just want to honor him in getting it running and trying to do something that would make him proud.  I killed a deer 2 years ago with his .30-06 that I was given and I am so proud of that deer.  I want to try to emulate that feeling with this project.  It will most likely be dark by the time I get off work tomorrow, get to my uncles and get it loaded, and get it home so probably no pics tomorrow.  But there will be some Sunday.  I cant wait to get crackin on this thing.  I can't wait to see the info all you amazing gurus can tell me.  I have literally been glued to this website since I found it a few days ago.  Although I am sad to say I believe my jeep is a CJ2A after some research and if my recollection serves me well.  We will find out tomorrow.   :D

I got the jeep last night.  It's in pretty bad shape... a lot worse than I remember.  My dad was off on the year.  It's a '46 CJ2A.  I'm still excited about getting started on it.. just not spending the $$$.   :-?

Here are some more pics of the Jeep.  Been getting it cleaned out for closer inspection.  Found some good things and not so good things.  It looks like they crashed it into something on the front drivers side and got a lot of things out of square.  You can see the front bumper bent in and the gap between the wheel well and the truck bed on the passenger side.

Joe, feel free to get with me here in Claremore. It's only a short drive. You can take a ride in and climb all over mine which will both help you get familure with what it should be as well as hopefully keep you motivated. Mine was not that bad, but it was still a full body off frame rebuild.
