Big hello from Chi-town
« on: September 22, 2015, 05:06:46 PM »
New guy here from Chicago. Just got my 1950 Willys a couple of weeks ago. Currently I'm in the process of stripping it down for frame-off resto. Will post progress report with most likely, plenty of questions as I am pretty moving along. In my lifetime I have worked on a couple VW Busses, built two Cherokees and created three off-road beasts from simple Explorers but this is definitely my first attempt to combat a frame-off restoration. Here's a couple pics from when I got the Jeep which BTW came from Nevada where it spent over 30 years of it's life.

thanks for having me here!

Welcome.  Nice patina.

Are you going to keep it stock?

I was considering keeping it the way it is but the other side rear quarter panel is just way too gone (right where spare tire was mounted). Front floor boards are rusted through although more so on the driver's side (under the tank). Would of been a great rat rod.... but no, I will clean it up a bit and paint (flat Olive Drab)... resto to almost stock but leaning toward M38 look. Clean, simple, functional. I wan to drive it, not keep it in my garage.
