distributor friction spring

:)I have been working on Willys Jeeps since the 1970's and finally learned where something I found in an oil pan came from. I found what is the friction spring that goes on the distributor shaft where it enters the oil pump shaft. You can buy it from Kaiser Willys or you can leave it out and nothing bad will happen except maybe an occasional strange noise or rattle and I sure there are many Jeeps running around without one. I am just happy a very old mystery of mine was solved .

Earl,
This thing?

I may or may not have seen this on my distributor.  I wasn't looking for it.  I will look for it if I have to pull my distributor out again.

Thanks for posting this.
