Modern headlights for a '63 3b
« on: January 14, 2020, 07:35:00 PM »
Can someone direct me to a good source/brand of a contemporary headlight replacement that has a modern style removable bulb?

I used this brand on my Wrangler and the quality was good for the price. The lenses are actually glass, unlike many of the cheap plastic ones.

Do these fit into the original headlight bucket?

I'm not 100% sure on a 3B, but they should be a direct fit for most applications using a 7" round sealed beam headlamp.

Hella also makes an excellent H4 headlight conversion for 7" bulbs.

I'm not sure this helps as these were installed probably 30 years back.  French, and use a standard H4 bulb.

Hey Goose,

I'm thinking on putting these in my 3B:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QS15QT5/?coliid=I2QXXAD7S5KJCD&colid=3VPUENBJ6FQWU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

From what I understand, they will not fit in the standard headlight buckets without cutting them.  I recently got an old set of headlight buckets from Ken that I plan to cut for this project and I will retain my original buckets if I ever want to return to stock.

I'm not even sure if this is going to work, but I should only be into it around $100, and I spent more than that on a rubber band Gatling gun, so I mean, I definitely spent more money on stupider stuff.... :)

Duffer those are Marschal lights, I had a set on my 60 Willys utility wagon back in the seventies, the fit right into stock headlight buckets.
Used a H4 bulb loved them

The winch is a 5721 (8000 lb) that I bought new for the 3B in 1973.  I did make the disc brake for it but that's another story.  That happened not long after the install.  I think there may be a thread on that over at ECJ5 if it wasn't lost.  I'm going to use my 8274 on the B when it emerges from it's latest instar this spring.  That 5721 will replace the M6000 on my CJ5.
