I stripped and tried re-plating and they turned out OK. I think I may try a clear sealer coat.

It looks close enough to Michael Langner's 1963 factory original latches. I'm happy!

So I finished the wiring and everything works as it should. Thanks to Carl Walck for an excellent product with clear instructions! I am now at a point where I need the rest of my body panels, hood, grill, fenders and tailgate. I'm hoping I don't have to wait another 8 months!

Went by the body shop today to check on the rest of the parts........won't be this month! Maybe October? That will be 1 year!

That is sad to hear.  I am puzzled of the why they didn't paint all parts at the same time.  Good Luck that it is sooner than October.

I decided to go ahead and reinstall the fresh air heater today. Managed to do it without scratching any paint! Now I need to crawl back under the dash and connect the power wire!  I did a short article on the restoration of this heater on the CJ3B page a couple of years ago: https://www.cj3b.info/Tech/FreshAirHeater.html

In the continuing effort to find things to do while waiting on the rest of the body parts to come back from the painter, I decided to work on the engine some more. I pulled the valve cover, sand blasted it, gave it a coat of etching primer, a couple of coats of gloss black, and added a new decal. After 8 months of looking at the rusty exhaust manifold, I unbolted it and took it to the local powder coat shop. He's going to do a high-temp ceramic coating in "cast iron gray" that should make it look a lot better.
I've polished the lug nuts and waxed the skid plate.....running out of things to do!
