Product Endorsment
« on: September 02, 2014, 01:40:27 PM »
Since I get so much from this page I wanted to take this opportunity to give just a little back. I am about 90% complete with my 3A rebuild. To date I have purchased every part from KW and have been satisfied with the people and the parts.
The rewiring was going to be a daunting task for me starting with my ability and ending with my size trying to fit under the cowl.
For weeks I have been searching this and the 2A page for hints and advice. I concluded that Walck's had a bit better price and a more popular harness among the Willy's brotherhood.
The final test will be when I turn the key (I did do a temp hook up to test the rebuilt engine) but I have to applaud the Walck wire harness, their product quality and directions made this an enjoyable Saturday morning task.
I'm sure other vendors are of equal integrity and my preference was to buy local from the wiring vendor in Maine but for those coming up on this project Walck's made it easy.
I will finish the project with KW but my hats off to Walck's as well...

BMIC, I am interested to find out why you chose Walck's instead of Vintage Wiring of Maine. Was the driver in the decision to use Walck's strictly financial? I just sent an inquiry off to VWM for a price quote. I will be purchasing my harness within the month and now am wondering if I Walck's would be better. Thanks in advance for your insight.

When I did my 3A I e-mailed VWM and never got a response. Being impatient, I ordered one from KW instead. Very happy with the result. The wiring diagram they provided was mostly hand-drawn but clear enough for a complete electrical imbecile like me to follow. No fires yet.

And BMIC...it's been awhile. When do we get to see some fresh pics of your 90%'er ????

I used one from Walck's. It fit just fine, no problems at all...

I've purchased a couple harnesses from Walcks.  They are a work of art.  Very impressive.

PeterL .... Vintage Wiring of Maine was my choice from the start but as Ryan mentioned Walck and KW are far more accessible and I do have some patients.
Money is always a consideration and I was able to catch Walck's having a sale on wiring harness's but my time in the garage is limited to Saturday's and "on time delivery" is the driver for me.
Ryan I will attempt to post a couple of pictures with this post, if they don't appear then its time for you and Peter to make a road trip south and get me up to speed. :exclamation

Does anyone know if any of the vendors will do a custom harness that is pre wired for an alternator?

I would give Walcks a call.  When I ordered my wiring harness from them, I called them first and spoke with Carl.  He had stated that they make the harness in house and can make several adjustments to the harness on a per-customer basis.  On mine, I ordered it without turnsignal hookups, but had them add the appropriate wires in the harness in case I wanted to add them on later on.

Their harness is top quality and Carl and Dan always go out of their way to help.  I have called them on more than one Saturday morning with a question and they have always helped me the best they could.
