Steering worm shaft?

Anyone ever replace the steering worm shaft during a Ross box rebuild?

If so, where did you get the part and were you satisfied with the results?

Debella's has them, and so does Walcks...considerable price difference though....

The last one I did came from Walcks and it worked good.

Debella sells plenty is NOS parts. His worm shaft could be NOS. make sure you call him and ask.  If it's NOS, I would buy it. Nothing like an NOS part.

I put one in my 3A with a new sector. I got it from walcks. Sadly it had a high spot turning to the left and was already back together and in the Jeep. I ended up putting the tight steer in my box to solve the problem. Works fine now. John

I had this box apart once and put a new/repro sector shaft in, but there is still quite a bit of play. As i turn the wheel you can see the sector shaft move in and out of the box before any real rotation occurs. The Tightsteer is just about all the way in...

I also found that the repro bellcrank is a poor fit. I'm going to find the old one and put it back on and then go from there...

Thanks for the input. NOS is the way to go, if available...

It turns out the bellcrank was OK, but the repro pin and sleeve didn't fit that well...so I re-used the old pin and sleeve ant it tightened right up. The new pin was about .003 to.005" smaller depending on where you measured. The old one fits the socket perfectly...and the new sleeve wouldn't even fit onto the old pin....

The steering box still leaks so it needs some work. Haven't yet decided on a worm and tube...I'm sure it would help...
