Hey Ryan, best to go factory with both the mounting and the filter.....If you stick with the fender mount you will need to make up custom flexible lines to reach the engine... �If you do not have something on the top right of your engine in the normal location, you will use shorter and stock length flex lines, and they will not have to endure quite as much flexing. A lot of filters were removed �to install plow pumps in that location. The head mounting filter bracket is available aftermarket, hopefully your fender mount filter is a standard one.
The feed line is the front oil passage plug on the drivers side of the block, the outflow from the filter goes to the timing cover. Do not be tempted to use steel lines for this as eventually the vibration will get to them and they will crack. The upper line is feed, the line on the bottom is the drain into the timing cover. If you have a service manual there is a very clear diagram in the Lubrication chapter.
