(53 CJ3A) I've been working on changing the seals on each end of the rear driveshaft and at the same time clean up and replace the shoes on the parking brake. The problem I am having is when I am re-assembling everything. When I tighten the nut on the shaft coming out of the transfer case that holds the yoke something is binding when i move the jeep in reverse (only going backwards pushing it in and out of my shop). I know I put all the shims bak in place and its not the shoes inside the brake drum(as far as I can tell) so im at a loss. If I loosen the nut to a certain point the shaft turns in both directions with no problems. The nut is on far enough that I know it wont come off, but I know it should be tighter. I have taken it down three times and put it back together three times and am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. As frustrated as I was I did get to hunt yesterday afternoon and was lucky enough to shoot a nice doe. I am on my way to skin and quarter it in just a little while. It got down right cold in South Louisiana last night (at least by a southerners standard) so im waiting for the sun to come up to warm things bit.
