T-90 problem
« on: September 30, 2015, 10:06:12 PM »
I can't seem to down shift into second gear. I can shift into and out of second easy enough. It's just bothering me to why I can't downshift

So it shifts from 2nd to 3rd with no grind, but won't go back the other way until you are stopped?

The synchro ring is probably worn.

Matthew,
Don't despair.  It's harder to get the T-90 out of the Willys than to rebuild a T-90.  If you decide to go in, we can help you.

 ;D ;D

Hawk hit the nail on the head!  Rebuilding the T-90 just takes time and patience.  Getting it in and out of the jeep can take blood, sweat, a wide range of words and a heavy dose of faith!

Ya what Hawky said, brass synchro is probably at the end of its life and not doing its job.  Dig in and buy good NOS parts.
Did I say buy NOS parts......ya I did. ;)

Brett Orem .... What is the electro process that you are using in your photo Diary (IMG_0158)?  What type of paint/coating did you use on these components?

I do not mean to hijack this thread but it relates to Brett's post.
