windshield and hood

so is it normal for the windshield when folded foreward to lay on the hood and press in on it basically denting it i have the wood blocks but maybe they are worn away to much?

Mike,
When you say,"..press in and dent..." are you saying the weight of the w/s pressing on the blocks pushes the hood down to form a dent  OR is something on the w/s making contact with the hood before the blocks (like the wiper arm shaft)?

the wiper arms are definitely pressing in the hood before hitting the blocks

Ah...

I had this problem but it was because my wiper arm was not original (it fit on top of the shaft nut extending it out too far) - a more modern generic swap from the Previous Owner.

Walck's shows blocks for the 3A/3B making me think they're the same dimensions.  I don't know if that is accurate.

The measurement provided on the 3B Page are 2.25" tall.  Check to see how tall yours are for comparison. 

Going back to Caprio's 3A:


Those wiper arms look the same as the 3B and they should slip down onto the shaft before the acorn nut is attached - holding it closer to the w/s frame.

i guess i need new blocks and is my 2nd wiper motor complete?

That wiper arm is exactly what I had that wasn't original.� It fits over the shaft nut - like more (maybe '60s-'70s) modern versions.  What I did waay back was to add washers on the inside to shim the vacuum motor back away from the w/s frame - effectively shortening the shaft.  I also slipped a short section of bicycle tire inner tube over the arm to eliminate metal-to-metal contact. 

What gets me is you can purchase an acorn nut that appears correct but none of the vendors seem to carry the correct arm.

Also, your blocks look short (and different sizes).� I wonder if they are homemade?

The passenger motor I've not seen before.� The 3A may have had the same offered for the 3B:� A manual wiper for the passenger or an optional second wiper motor.� For the Cj-3B, the passenger vacuum motor is listed under

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT & ACCESSORIES Group 35

Some of those replacements slip over the top of the nut like what you have now.  Some will slip on first before threading the "acorn" nut.  None have the bend in the arm like the original.

so i bought the correct wiper blades and arms and new blocks for the hood and the wipers still hit i guess ill have to space it but i may not have to if i buy this m38 window im looking at that comes with the m38 body also is my cj3a windshield supposed to have holes drilled for the passenger and are these the correct motors as ive seen a crap ton of different style of trico motors and if im to convert to an m38 are these the wrong motors?
