Front seat cushions & entire back seat for 3A
« on: June 10, 2016, 02:19:29 AM »
My 3A has frames in the front with a piece of plywood for the seat and nothing for the back. Any recommendations for which vendors are good choices for new cushions? These cushions from Kaiser Willys look pretty good, but I'm open to suggestions.

$135 is pretty steep for a single seat bottom.  Are you looking for vinyl or canvas?  If OD canvas, I can recommend weebeewebbing.  Get all 4 cushions and covers for $280.  If you go vinyl I would venture and make them yourself.

I got mine from Beechwood Canvas, but they were pricey as I recall.  My only 2 cents is to try to determine first what thickness exactly will you want.  If they are too thick (especially the backs) a thicker guy may have trouble fitting behind the wheel and having good freedom of movement.  I would think that most mfg. could make the backs thinner as a custom order, but I can't say for sure.  Just throwing this out there as some of the guys complain about the tight quarters behind the wheel.

...a thicker guy...

Cracked me up.  Very tactful way of describing a chubby fellow. ;D

I purchased from Beachwood Canvas.  It's very nice stuff.

Tim, I think we all have a little of that going on!  You know I'm not a big guy, but I wouldn't mind another inch or so clearance.  Mr. Willys just might have been a hobbit!

I'm 6' 0" and 185 lbs.
I fit into my 3B just fine, but oh boy, getting into the 2A is fun. Legs too long. Good thing I'm not one of the "thicker" guys. :)

My Dad tells about his driver in WWII (Dad was an artillery forward observer). His driver was 6' plus a lot and drove with his knees above the steering wheel on either side of it. The MB was designed for a 5' 6" 150 lb driver. The "thicker" guys wouldn't even fit.
