VIN # in Minnesota
« on: July 10, 2012, 02:42:03 PM »
Hi, When I bought my jeep in 2011 I got this as VIN# 69H575333J56107.
It was registered last time in 1991.

I wrote to the DPS_DVS Motor Vehicles about it's record but I got this answer;
"MN only retains records for a retention period of 7 years. The records for this vehicle go too far back where we no longer can verify based on paperwork that may have been initially submitted to us."

Do you know how they "created" this #?

The last 7 digits correspond to the motor serial # 3J56107.
What's about the first part? 69H57533?

What would happen if the motor get replaced? The VIN# is no longer associated with the jeep...That's sound strange for me.

I can't get record of it via CARFAX or other. The VIN# does'nt work.

I'm looking for previous owner's. I only know the last one. I'm interested by the history of that jeep.
Thanks. Pascal

Since that was the only serial they could find on it thats what they used, they probably added the rest to make it a standard vin. I just went through something similar and had to get a bonded title
