Young, but not new to 3As
« on: February 16, 2012, 08:53:03 PM »
Hi guys,

Some of you may know me from the CJ2A page and the ECJ5 board. My name is Nate Bolduc from Western MA. Been on the CJ5 one for 4 years and the 2A for a year. I'm 19 and currently own 6 pre '71 jeeps, a parts CJ5, a parts 3B, a parts 2A, a restored '53 3A that I did myself, a highly modified 2A, and a bone stock, unmolested '49 3A I just bought 2 days ago. The '49 made me decide to join this board to share all the original bits of it. I also used to own a '47 2A that I gave to another future jeep owner. My other hobby is collecting antique hit and miss engines. I have a half dozen of those also. ::) Anyways, here are a few shots of my '53, trail rig and '49.

It is pretty much stock with a few updates like 10" drums, 12 delco 10si alternator, dual MC, blinkers, defroster duct and overdrive. This jeep has been with me since I was 8 and I decided to restore it when I was 14. I finished it when I was about 16 1/2.

This pic is in this years ECJ5 calander.

And in my highschool welding class, I built a matching trailer for it. Yes, that is a genuine Indian on it. My dad collects them.

And my trail rig. It used to be a 2A, but now a jumble of parts. I call it the Jalopy. It has a 225 V6 w/ 4bbl, T18 4spd w/6.32 1st, D18 and D25, locked D41, I know the weakest axles ever. I haven't broken them yet. I also built a frame for it and converted it to coil springs from a TJ Rubicon. The front has 5 link suspension and 4 link rear. It goes anywhere.

And here is my new '49. The body is pretty rot free for the Northeast. All the lights work off the original harness and it runs pretty good.

Nate, you have a nice collection of Jeeps. I like the work on your Jeep trailer and your Red Jeep restoration is very nice looking. Your doing some mighty fine work.

I got the '49 running real sweet. The dumb PO I bought it from had cylinders 2&3 crossed so it ran like crap. He thought the engine was garbage! Well, it has plenty of power and starts right up and purrs away. It is just as reliable as my '53! Also in my buddy's barn, I found a set of '49 front and rear plates.

Some states allow you to use those plates as a current license plate for your Jeep. Have you checked into doing that?

My son bought me a Sample license plate for my year of manufacture Jeep and it reads 000-000 Sample. I have it on the Jeep now.
