I gave the M38 a fabricated identity today. It's passable but further reinforces the fact that I should not be allowed to touch paint.









The hood came out really well. It was pretty much all downhill after this though.









This one is a complete mess. Looks like someone slopped fuel all over the place moments after the paint was applied.....

Yes. I may actually aim for a rock large enough to scrape that off.

Just slop some gas on it and then try to wipe it off.....maybe give it a minute to soak in....then it will look very authentic.....

The jeep looks good......a few "decorations" always enhance the look....

Great job!  That has to be some kind of speed restoration record!  I agree that its a fine line on trying to restore one that you wont shed a tear if it gets scratched up :)

Pressed the M38 into a "real" work project today. A broken tree limb that has been precariously hanging over my road was finally put out of its misery today.



And then a little ride around the yard. Cabin Fever has taken a serious hold. I need to get out on the road!!

I received a set of pioneer tools from a popular vendor. The shovel fit great but the axe....not so much. Not sure where the problem lies. Could be the axe, the axe head bracket, or the tub itself. All three of those things have sufficient reason to be suspect.





Since Bubba has already lent a hand several times here on this project I was too concerned about letting him take a crack at solving this problem.

I cut and then welded a bolt to each leg of the bracket to extend it out a bit. It isn't the prettiest but with a couple dabs of paint nobody will notice.

Ry Guy,

In anticipation of fitment issues, the reproduction ax bracket is sold with extra long legs.  Once the ax is in, you slice off the extra length.

As you know, my indents are not factory, so I was facing the same issue.  I was happy to have the long bracket legs.  I look like I'm in a little more than you, but not by much...
