Yeah I know this is the 3A forum, but I still want to highlight it here.

I am now a certified, insane Willysaholic.
I now own 5 Jeeps, 3 of them old Willys.
There's no such thing as too many Jeeps.

I could have driven it home. There was nothing wrong with the carb. I think the float was stuck and the run home vibrated it loose.
We started it up and drove it down the street. Not a drop of gas leaking. Woohoo. Need to fix the brakes and it's safe to drive.

The purists will probably chastise me for removing the farm stuff and making it pseudo-military. I can't afford a restore. I'm just going to fix it, paint it and drive it in parades. When my Dad can't do parades anymore or is gone, then I'll have to sell it.

My whole reason for buying it is to do parades with Dad. He's 93 and is probably good for a couple more years at least.

It's like my 3B - a 20/20 - looks great from 20 feet away at 20 mph.

Yes they do. Though most of them will admit there's a bit of luck involved as well.
I got a hi-res, digital copy from the newspaper. Big difference from the scan from the newspaper.

Well, I've finally made some progress on removing the farm equipment.
I got the rear bolts out of the PTO drive shaft with the angle grinder. The front bolts came out easily with wrenches. The PTO gear box came off easily with the impact wrench so all that's left is the PTO shifter off the back of the transfer case. Will tackle that this Saturday.

As I was removing things, I was hit with pangs of regret.  :-/ :'(
I still feel bad molesting this great survivor, farm Jeep. But I don't have any other options at this point. I need the cash the parts will bring to pay for this 2A and it'll look a little more "Army" without a PTO hanging on the back.

Next is to get the original springs back on it and buy some matching shocks.

I'll be taking the parts to Effingham. I'll post a list in a couple weeks.

Had the same on a jeep of mine.  Newgren lift, PTO, shaft and selector. 

They got me some parts I need for my jeep.  It will help someone else trying to create or preserve one like you took apart.

John,

I think many of us that have taken our Willys jeeps in a "different direction", feel your pain.� I know I did.� I kept reminding myself that the Willys jeep is historically one of the most modified vehicles in the history of vehicles.� So, you're just joining many hundreds of thousands of others that have made their Willys the way they wanted it.
