Question: the CJ2a paint scheme doesn't indicate the color for the intake and exhaust manifold.  Are they semi gloss black like the rest of the engine?

No, but the date the case was cast should be on the left side of the transmission case.

Looks like March 12, 1951. What is the serial number of the CJ-3A?

Just to see if I'm correct with the transmission assembly date. It is unusual to have all those extra numbers that you describe.

Does anyone know how to remove this type of shackle?  Remove center bolt and then pry bar it off.  I'm tempted to just get the sawzall out since I'll probably go back to original C shackle.  This is what I did on the other side after Kroil, Heat, Impact wrench didn't work.

The plate looks like a slip fit on the grease zerk side, the opposite side seems to be a press fit. The center bolt held the two sides together. After years of rust, I'd tap the grease zerk side a few times with a hammer. If there's no movement, I'd use a sawsall.
People think I go out of my way to * them off.
Trust me, It's not out of my way at all.
