Got the spare tire carrier area done today since both my classes were cancelled. :)



And the spare tire brace in is amazing shape. The hat channel has a few holes that I can fill in. I'll put this back in later after I finish the fender well repair.

While working on it yesterday, I found some evidence of an aluminum full top hiding behind a piece of steel. I figured it had a metal top based on all the holes drilled in the body.

Are you using a brake at all or just hammering?  Harbor Freight has their brake on sale till monday for $39 instead of $79.

I hammered everything. I used a piece of angle iron and clamped that and the sheet metal in the vise along with lots of vise grips. Worked fine for me.

Finally!!! Cut out the last section of rust today!!! Now its just finish welding and grinding!

One of the front seat hold downs for the backseat was all rotted out. This is how I fixed it.



And the repair piece welded in.



And this was the last piece to be welded in, a new bed support!

Major progress today! Got the spare tire brace back in and the floors all welded up. Tomorrow I should be able to finish welding and finish grinding I hope.





And then here is the bullet hole. It looks .38 cal and if the pistol was in a holster on someone's left side, it would have fired perfectly there.

Nicely "stitched"....

I put a couple of short lengths of conduit between the side and the hat channel on that tire carrier....it was tricky but I got them in there after I had assembled everything....

I had thought about that, but I won't be using a side mounted spare. I put all the holes back and some bolts in the holes so it will look like someone took the carrier off and moved it to the rear.
