Back in the good side of the garage. Grill painted today and on. Supposed to get rain for the rest of the week. So body work this week in preparation for the weekends good weather.

Does that spin-on filter clear the hood? There probably is a short version that would fit too....

The filter setup was on it when I got it.  It is a Studebaker filter setup.  This was used on drag cars a lot.  It clears the hood very easily.

Worked some more on the fender today.  After I cut out the brace I marked and cut out the cancer.  I cut some new pieces, tack welded them in and did the final weld and cutting.  I will have to fashion a bracket from salvaged pieces as I only have the new one for the battery side fender.

Surprisingly this was the DJ fender and there was no wood filler.  Rusted anyway.  There was no wood filler on the hat channels either.  Now I have to make up a brace unless I can take on off one of my other fenders.  I'm learning on this welding stuff.  I get better each weld.  Just have to get this one done in two weeks.  Next project will be better and slower.

When I repaired my fenders which were pretty much rusted just like yours, F_Bill recommended that I bolt the fender to the tub and grill, then bolt the brace to the frame, and then weld the brace to the fender, insuring alignment later on.....

You may have already done this, but I found it to be excellent advice..

The fender is on adjusted now with the new top.   Set the MB hood on to see how it looks with both fenders.  The passenger side fender new a couple of adjustments and one weld.  Then back off to prime and paint.

Prepped, primed and painted the fenders.  They are by no means perfect.  They are servicable.  Part of the Jeep are really good and other parts and servicable.  These can be done at a later date as will other things.  I need it done quickly.  So servicable will be the order of the day every day till June 6th.  Then little touchups and changes can be done while I restore the real GPW/MB.

Now that I am back from DC and very wore out.  Keep forgetting I am not 18 anymore.  Did some work on the Jeep.

I looked at all the Jeeps in the DC parade and they did not pay the attention I did while doing mine.  So with that enlightenment I am going to go a simpler route and skip a few things.

I filled the ball peen hammer dents in the back panel but left the waves.  I want this to look like a motorpool restoration.  Light repairs and repaint with some dents still intact.  Like a combat repaint.  I painted the top of the engine hood as well.  I mounted the tire rack and gerry can holder with the support piece I made.  The recessed light holes are looking good.

Actually been pushing it around.  Need it done before 6 June.  or close.  So a few things will be skipped so I can have at the National D-Day Memorial for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.

Just did work in the garage today.  No painting.  It was raining.  So I attached some items like the axe holders,  welded on the axe sheath,  gerry can strap and mounted the fenders as well.
