I thought it would be a good idea to start a blog about trying to get my cj running again. I'm not doing a restoration, so much as a let's get it running enough to drive it safely around town kind of fix it job. I really like the idea of keeping track of everything in one place. I really want to concentrate on low cost, and will post the price of everything as I buy it. I'm limiting the project to $1,000 (yeah, right!?), and since I need a lot of new brake parts, and all new tires, reinforcing the rust holes in the floor..............and......., and............. that's probably a dream number. This jeep will see well groomed dirt roads at the worst, and is more likely just going to be for short trips around town. I don't intend to ever have it on the freeway.
I have no plan. I'm just winging it. I've done basic mechanical stuff, but I'm not very knowledgeable in general. If there isn't a youtube video of it, or detailed step by step instructions somewhere, I'm lost........................ hahahaha. I've got enough of the right tools to do a lot, and so, I try..........................
There is a bit of profanity. Sorry, I'll keep that to a minimum.
This was mainly for me, and some friends/family (I'm trying to talk my dad into restoring an early cj also), and I hadn't intended for it to be seen by anyone else. So, please keep that in mind.
Lot's of pictures, if nothing else, hahahahaha
