Been making so progress on the fitty-five.

I had a blown up 305 SBC, so I gutted that and bolted the block to the tranny and got the engine/tranny mount figured out.

The driveshaft needs to be longer by 3'', so I'll drop that off someplace to get modified.

I yanked the engine out of the beater truck a month ago and finally got around to cleaning it and painting it. Now I just have to paint the engine bay and put it all back together! I'm going to upgrade the stock MC to a vacuum boosted dual MC. I also have some new wheels and drag slicks picked out for the rear.

Nice install.  Did you swap heads on this 350 or is this a crate motor?  I notice you have center bolt valve covers....

It was a GM Goodwrench engine that was put into the beater truck.

This project has been on hold while I finished the Jalopy, which is done now thank god! I managed to find the best thing for the 55 in the meantime.... ;)

Yesterday was the start of a nightmare crappy job. Up in Claremont NH is a comcast facility on top of a mountain.  ::)  Apparently, the generator has had issues for the past few years and they decided that it is now an EMERGENCY to replace it in the middle of WINTER!!!!  ::) ::)  So me and an other guy go up there with a nice used Onan Cummins unit. The generator is down a hill in a not so easy to get to place. We mounted the used one on skids to skid it in place. Long story short, we got the old one out and the used one almost in place. A brake line blew too on the crane truck to top it off.

I happened to look inside the old genny and on the valve cover, a sticker said GM 8.2L.  [smiley=evil.gif] An industrial 502 big block chevy!!!! So I called my boss up to see if I could have the engine and he said yes!!!! So I guess the 55 chevy truck will be getting a new power plant after I convert it from LP to gasoline. The bell housing pattern looked correct to me. It has a serpentine belt set up too.

Great find! I am fully expecting the '55 be used as the tow vehicle when you bring Ted to NH this year.  ;)
