51 3a new to me...
« on: May 24, 2018, 10:38:32 PM »
This is my fifth willys. Bought through ebay, still on the way with a shipper.

I've owned a 56m38a1, a 56 pu, a 61 wagon, and a 56cj5.  This 51 3a looks to be a solid mostly rust free nevada jeep. Rebuilt motor, new starter, etc.  Still 6v, so will likely change that at some point.

Well, howdy, anyways. See ya out there?

That's a beauty.  Great score.

Idaho is well represented here at the 3A Page.  I suspect some of our Northern friends will chime in soon.

Pretty nice looking! Your paint color is the same as what I had on mine. Interesting as I have seen a number of Jeeps painted the same color. Looks like you have scored a good find. Now just need some NDT's and you will be set. Keep us posted if you do any work to your new toy and congratulations.

Thanks for the welcome...

I've been watching for a new one for sometime. In states like Idaho, folks know what the value is for one in decent condition.  I found this one on ebay, after shipping its not much  lower than  what I was seeing closer to home, but whatever...   If the representations are correct, I shouldnt need to do much.

Gotta check for dry tires/rubber stuff. At some point I want to do the 12v conversion, but for now they boast a rebuilt starter.  I noticed in the  pics (seller put  40 pics, all larger thankfully) that the windshield latches are incomplete, so that will need to be done soon. The only thing keeping the windshield from flopping forward is the ragtop!

The only  rust I saw in the pics was on two of the tub supports.  Not a big deal...
