Greetings Jeep Folk!
I just picked up my latest Jeep, a '53 CJ3-B, and learned of your forum from the previous owner. It's a very nicely restored vehicle with just about everything taken care of but the engine. I'll be diving into that project as soon as time permits.
My history with CJ's is a long one, but not necessarily in the restoration game.
I learned to drive some 60 years ago at my Dad's hunting camp in a '54. Unfortunately that beauty was burned up in a fire over 30 years ago.
Around that time I acquired a beautiful '66 CJ-5 from my grandfather. Neat story is that he had bought it new for my grandmother because she wouldn't back up their car to negotiate the switchback turns going up to their mountaintop cottage in Carolina. He got her this pretty little Tuxedo Park so she could drive up and down the road by herself in the Jeep.
I restored that vehicle after my grandparents passed, and have been using it in the same hunting camp as a woods vehicle ever since then. Regrettably I've allowed it to turn into a woods only vehicle from here on out.
I got my latest Jeep, the CJ3-B with the idea that it would be another woods driver, but it turns out to be much too pretty to take out in the mud! So I think I'll just dive into the engine and see what I can do to complete this nicely done restoration.
Will certainly have lots of questions for you experts.
First one will be to learn if there is any availability on an engine block casting or a reman short block for the F4-134. Mine may have a crack--don't know for sure yet.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
