I grew up around surplus WWII Jeeps on the beach in North Carolina. I never had one, but several of my friends’ dads did. Great fun. By the ‘60s most were rusting away. One of my friends dad’s had one with big Lincoln tires. Everytime something rusted away and fell off, he replaced it with wood…floorboards, fenders, tailgate, etc. By the time I left for school in ‘63 it was mostly wood. When I got home from VN in ‘70, it was a clump of weeds in the back lot. Anyway that’s where I caught the bug. I have owned a CJ7 and other 4WD vehicles, but never a flat fender. I have one now, a ‘55 CJ3B. We have put a new body on it and I am working my way through the restoration. It runs and drives, but there is more to be done. I am trying to do as much as I can myself, but recognize I need help. I hope that I can find some knowledgeable, patient folks on the forum.
