Re: seller in Turkey-  I purchased a NOS ring and pinion and it was a good transaction. Part was true Willy's NOS and even with the high price to ship to the US it was cheaper than Omix stuff.  Arrived fairly fast for overseas shipping.

Does anybody have a good source for the TC boot?  I seem to go through one every year - they just disintegrate.  The Omix ones are thin and poor, but my last one was thicker and it has also gone south after one year.

Hi Tom,
I have had the same luck with the TC boots.  The one I got from Walck's didn't make it through the second driving season without falling apart.  I keep my OD Willys indoors.  Can't imagine how quick it would fall apart if I left it outdoors.  I replaced it with one made out of canvas.

I bought a rubber one for Rachel's 3A.  It hasn't seen much use yet, but it is supposedly "Made in the USA".  Same guy that offers the Steering wheels...

It 'feels' like a higher quality than my first purchase, but only time will tell.

You can still get NOS M-38 boots made in the 60s. I've had good luck with them.

I think this same guy has the 60s vintage NOS version.  I guess I just get a little nervous about old rubber items.

Tim, do you remember where your canvas boot came from?   I've used the thicker rubber and the thinner rubber boots and they both fall apart.  I'm thinking rubber just isn't the right material.

Do you remember 'Haines Garage'?  Screen name for Scott Schiller.  He made me the canvas boots using a pattern that is available on one of the sites.  I like it.  You see many of the vendors offering the leather version using the same pattern.  I've considered making a set at some point, but my sewing skills need improvement.

My friend Keith in Belle just bought some very heavy od canvas and is in negotiations for a heavy duty walking foot sewing machine. If all works out he will be making transmisssion and t/c boots this fall/winter. If you know where to get a pattern let me know and maybe we can have some by the next Black Hills run

Sign me up, Rick!� Honestly, I think a guy may fare better designing from the ground up.� I've even found if the rubber ones aren't installed exactly right, they will bind and pop you out of (low) range.� Needs to be a bit more loose material around the levers area so they don't bind.� I hope he can find some black canvas too!� Thanks!

BTW, I found the step like you have.  Kind of pricey, but I appreciate the tip.

Eeyore the CJ5 requires one of the store bought boots a year.  I tried cutting an inter tube so the levers came through slots.  Did not look right, and I did not repeat it.

I would like to try canvas boots.  Sign me up for a couple of sets.

I am working on a 53 CJ3-b. It had an F-134 originally(gone before I got it) I bought a F-134 from a local Willys enthusiast. It has studs on the head instead of bolts. Anyone else have this? The serial number stamped above the water pump is P36052, I could use a little help identifying that also if anybody has an idea?
