Battery Disconnect Switch

Thanks Zeked....I understand what the relay does and thanks for the explaination!.....but my plan is to run all the power, ignition as well as the power to crank the starter through the disconnect switch...my 3a has no solenoid, it's a "kick start"..

I have a Lucas disconnect switch, Austin Healey used them and I have one on my MG...but it is 12 volt. At six volts the same number of watts draws twice the amps, so I'm pretty sure the switch won't handle it....

I may have to buy one of those big disconnect switches, or just forget about the whole thing....

If it were me, I'd mount it above the passenger's left foot, clear of any heater and the air cleaner, high enough under the dash to be out of sight.
Shortest distance from battery to switch to starter.
Then size wouldn't matter.

That is the location I was planning......my thought was to mount it through the firewall so the cables would still be in the engine compartment and the switch lever in the passenger compartment. .

But, maybe I could mount it on that dash brace...but then there would be longer cables to the switch and starter....

FYI, On the 2A forum, a member Freddy is using a mechanical cut off switch. It's under " It was your entire fault " page 4. It has some really good pictures of how he installed it.

Oops, sorry about the confusion.  Maybe too much beer?

For positive disconnect look at marine switches from West Marine . Com.     If you can handle the size a "Perko" switch is made for that.

Well 800A should cover it.... A little pricey but now that you have the model # perhaps you could trim some off of that.   Good Luck

It took a while, but I finally got the switch, now I need to find a place for it......

It's beefy enough....I may have to break down and drill a hole....I hate to drill extra holes..
