Rear View mirror fiber friction washers...

So I've been working on cleaning up the rear view mirror and bracket. It is in good condition but the fiber washers are shot...I found some rubber washers that will work, but fiber would be better....and they might even be leather, it's difficult to tell....

Anyone know of a source?

The parts in the picture are just hung together so I don't loose them..the washers go between the arm and the bracket...

Try Ace Hardware, they have really expanded their fastener department and have a lot of stuff. I have about worn a groove in the floor to the nuts and bolts over the last few years.I seem to have seen some pull outs with fiber washers.

I've looked at the local hardware stores, but not all of them. I've found fiber washers but if they are the right OD they all seem to have a much larger center hole....but I will keep looking..

You could try this:  Take a piece of fiberboard, like the backing on a tablet of paper, and cut it to size.  Saturate it with superglue (the thin stuff would work the best) and let it harden.   Stack a couple of them  if need be.  Should do the job.  Yeah I am cheap  

P.S.  You know that does look a little like leather I'll take a look at mine when I get the chance.

I found some neat leather washers on the internet....1" diameter, 3/8 hole and 1/8" thick. 10 to a pack..I'm thinking that I can use these lots of places, like under the seat legs and who knows where else...

I might try soaking one of the old ones in leather conditioner and see what happens...

You might want to check the plumbing section.  Fiber washers are used for packing in some plumbing fixtures.
Or you can use an old printed circuit board and cut it up into washers.

These leather washers are perfect.....if the factory didn't use leather, they should have!
