The press usually works, if it doesn't, try a hammer. Sometimes the sock and vibration will help loosen the studs. If that doesn't work, cut the stud(after the press and the hammer, its going to be mushroomed) flush with the hub or a little above, then drill out the center of the stud with a 1/4" or 5/16" drill bit. That way you drill out enough metal to help relieve some of �the tension that is holding it, but not to drill into the hub or drill too much of the stud away so you cant still hit on top of it with a punch. From one north Texas boy to another, Ill bet you a doughnut she'll come on out. Had a trailer tire come loose and mangle the studs awhile back, that was the only way I got them out. Its not that bad to do. Fyi, you might have already noticed, you can buy drums that are wider that will just slip over the studs, like garage gnome said, makes life easier.
