Looking for some help with numbers
« on: December 03, 2012, 11:39:41 PM »
I never was good at math.  I didn't think I would ever name a jeep but I am already getting pretty attached to this one!  The jeep that brought me to the CJ3A page is a 1951 model with serial # 451-GB1 48046.  The engine is marked 4LR125163A on the flat near the water pump.  The casting # on the block is 804380-W-13-D-P5 CU-CR.  From what I have been able to figure out the engine is a replacement model.  It has the super sonic head on it.  That is all I know about the engine.  If anyone can offer any additional information I would appreciate it.

Sounds like you pretty much have it handled numberwise...4LR is definitely a 4 cylinder L head Replacement engine. The casting number I will have to leave to the experts... I looked up your serial number on a chart on Brian's Military Jeeps and you have the year correct, looks like it was later in the 51 model year when it rolled off the line.
