Heat shield (COMPLETED)
« on: September 12, 2012, 06:01:43 PM »
Was the heat shield plate made from aluminum or steel? I have some steel but thought that would rust in no time given the shields environment. If aluminum, I'll have to come up with some some. Anyone have an idea on where to buy a small amount? I don't use aluminum to justify buying a lot of it.

Midwest military has them with thE fiber for a reasonable price, I just bought one, it works great.
Climbs trees, hides in the long grass, hangs out with wet dogs...

Ya, there are a lot of reasonable priced parts out there but I'd get nickeled and dimed to death if I went that route for everything.  I have to make some things to same money.  I like doing it to if I can.  :)
So far tonight I made the plate and the 2 arms.

I know the fiber board is not the best thing but this is better than what was there which was nothing.
I'm going to paint it OD also.

Oh and I have to give credit to Sean Collins from the CJ-2A page for the drawing!
Thanks Sean.

Brett,

Looks real nice.  What's it going to take for you to make another one for your friend in Colorado?
