Speedometer Cable
« on: August 23, 2011, 02:36:55 PM »
Hey everybody:

Was trying to insert the speedometer cable ('51 CJ3A) and it would appear as though someone broke the cable off at the mount on the transmission.  My question is do I need to remove the back assembly to get at the guts on the drive or can I just pull the fitting that holds the cable end into the worm gear inside?
Thanks

Tom

If you mean the end of the cable is twisted off in the part in the tranny then you should be able to screw that part out of the tranny and then try to get the cable end out of the gear drive part. If you can't get the cable end out Walcks sells the gear drive.
